Our expert speakers, Jacklynn Pidduck (Transition Coordinator, IWK Health) and Lindsey Rusche (Patient Advocate & Think Aorta Canada Lead), will provide valuable insights including:
Preparing to take responsibility for your health
Tips for working with adult medical providers
Summarizing your medical history
Describing your genetic condition and its medical implications
How family and caregivers can thoughtfully support young adults during this transition
Keeping track of medications, appointments and follow-up care

Presenters:
Jacklynn Pidduck (she/her) is a Registered Social Worker and Transition Coordinator with IWK Health’s Children’s Health Program. IWK Health is the children’s hospital in the Maritimes. In this role, Jackie supports the Transition of Care Committee which brings together patients, caregivers, health care providers and community partners to improve the transition from pediatric to adult health care. Through their research and community engagement. the committee created a Transition Framework to help guide transition practice locally and now work to embed that framework into practice in pediatric, primary and adult care.
Lindsey Rusche, Patient Advocate & Think Aorta Canada Lead
Lindsey’s dedication to supporting individuals with aortic disease and GADs has been her true calling, leading to over 10 years of service as a volunteer patient advocate. She has held multiple senior volunteer board roles, contributed to clinical and research-driven patient projects, and developed and facilitated patient workshops. Lindsey has also shared her personal journey at conferences, in webinars, and has provided one-on-one patient support. Based in Toronto, Lindsey Rusche is a communications professional with more than 20 years of experience creating engaging, impactful content across the financial services, non-profit, and technology sectors. Lindsey is currently the patient lead for Think Aorta Canada, a global campaign to build awareness and educate about aortic health and encourage quick diagnosis of aortic dissections to help save lives.
