BC Children's Hospital Losartan vs. Atenolol Trial is Beginning

Our study is a superiority trial of Losartan vs. Atenolol (beta blocker) in patients between 12 and 25 years with a definite diagnosis of Marfan syndrome. We will measure and monitor pulse wave velocity, the properties of the aorta and endothelial function and aortic root size, all with echocardiography. The trial will be for 1 year and participants will need to come for baseline evaluation and echocardiography and repeat visits at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months. We need 30 patients and hope we can recruit locally in BC but would consider out of province, but do not have funds to compensate these participants.
