National Marfan Awareness Week
November 15 - 21, 2009 is National Marfan Awareness Week.
Each of us can help spread much needed awareness of Marfan syndrome in our local communities (workplaces, churches, doctor’s offices, schools, ...). Join CMA members, friends and families across the country as we spread the word and educate others about Marfan syndrome by holding activities and events.
Here are some examples of ways you can help:
Write an article for your local and or national newspapers.
Organize an exhibit at a local hospital.
Information booths in local malls, schools, libraries, workplace etc.
Organize a meeting with your local school introducing the “How do Your Genes Fit?” video and teacher’s booklet.
Speak to your doctor about distributing the video “Emergency Diagnosis and Treatment of Aortic Dissection” in your local hospital.
Ask you doctor to display our Marfan poster and brochure.
Public Service Announcements on the radio.
Organize a fundraiser such as a golf tournament, walk-a-thon or craft or bake sale.
Create an online fundraising page (http://www.marfan.ca/content/view/64/28/#10·
..... or just tell someone about Marfan syndrome.
These are just a few ways that can significantly help spread awareness and education of Marfan syndrome. If you are going to organize an event for National Marfan Awareness Week please let us know by contacting the CMA office toll free at 1-866-722-1722, 905-826-3223 locally or email at info@marfan.ca
Please remember your efforts do make a difference and may just save someone’s life!
